By the decision of the Academic Council of the L. N. Gumilyov ENU, Aslan Huseynovich Abashidze, a prominent scientist, honored Lawyer of the Russian Federation, Doctor of Law, Professor, Head of the Department of International Law of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Member of the UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, was awarded the title of "Honorary Professor of the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University".
The decision of the Academic Council of the University was made in the year of the 25th anniversary of ENU and the 60th anniversary of RUDN.
On behalf of the Rector of the L. N. Gumilyov ENU, E. Sydykov, on May 12, the diploma of "Honorary Professor of the L. N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University" was presented by the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Ye. Ongarbayev. The graduation ceremony was attended by Vice-Rector for International Relations A. Zholdasbekova, Dean of the Faculty of Law Prof. B. Smatlaev, Head of the Department of International Law Prof. Sh. Tlepina, Head of the Department of Civil, Labor and Environmental Law Prof. A. Nurmagambetov, Professor of the Department of International Law E. Abaydeldinov. The video broadcast of the event was joined by the teaching staff, doctoral students, undergraduates, undergraduate students of the law faculties of ENU and RUDN.
As Vice-Rector Ye. Ongarbayev admitted, Cooperation between the Gumilyov ENU and the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia (Moscow) in the scientific and educational spheres has been closely carried out since 2009 in a number of specialties, among which international law occupies a prominent place. And this is a great merit of the large-scale fruitful activity of Aslan Huseynovich.
Professor A. Kh. Abashidze is the author and editor of about a thousand scientific papers published in Russia and abroad, including in Kazakhstan, together with scientists of the Department of International Law of the L.N. Gumilyov ENU. A notable phenomenon in the republic was the country's first Kazakh-Russian textbook on international law in two volumes, the authors of which were scientists of ENU, RUDN and other leading universities of the CIS, the governing bodies of the EAEU. The textbook was translated into the Kazakh language, entered the top 20 textbooks of the L.N. Gumilyov ENU, and became a real reference book for a wide range of students.
Aslan Huseynovich is a foreign scientific consultant for a number of PhD students of ENU, regularly gives lectures for undergraduates, undergraduates and doctoral students of ENU, takes part in scientific events of ENU, trains undergraduates in the framework of a "double diploma", has repeatedly been a co-head of scientific groups for conducting basic research under a grant of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan,
And this was noted at the highest level. On December 16, 2020, by the decision of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Elbasy N. A. Nazarbayev, for his contribution to the development of cooperation between peoples, rapprochement and mutual enrichment of cultures and strengthening of friendly relations between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Kazakhstan, Prof. A. Kh.Abashidze was awarded the Gold Medal of the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan "Birlik".
In his speech, Professor Abashidze noted that Kazakhstan and Russia are strategic partners, friendly countries that fruitfully develop many aspects of cooperation, including in the field of education and science. Both the L. N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University and the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia based on their missions, reflected in the names of universities, are obliged to work together, including in the transformation of the science of modern international law from a predominantly Eurocentric to a universal education. This involves analyzing a wide range of achievements of world civilization in the formation and development of international law; conducting further joint scientific research by scientists of these two glorious universities; developing and publishing new joint works in the form of textbooks, monographs, articles; training a new generation of scientific personnel, and much more.
Ahead is the implementation of large-scale joint projects of the teams of the Departments of International Law of ENU and RUDN in the scientific and educational sphere.
