From April 3 to April 10, 2023, the Department of International Law holds the anniversary X International Scientific and Practical School on International Law "Actual Problems of Theory, Practice and Teaching of International Law", dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the specialized Department of International Law of ENU. In 2023, the theme of the X International Scientific and Practical School is "Alternative ways to resolve international disputes".
On April 7, 2023, the Legal Counsel of Astana-REK JSC, a graduate of the University of Illinois, LLM in commercial and corporate law, Zeynelgabi Adil Kairatovich, spoke on the topic: “International dispute resolution in American law framework”.
In his speech, Zeinelgabi A.K. reviewed the US legal system, types of jurisdiction, outlined the role of the Alien Torts Act, the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act. Many examples were cited from court cases in the United States.
The lecturer dwelled in detail on the criminal case of Alvarez-Machin, on the case of the Republic of Austria v. Altman and on the case of Julian Assange.
Speech by Zeinelgabi A.K. aroused keen interest on the part of students of the school and grew into a lively discussion. The lecturer also shared useful information about studying in the USA and answered questions of interest.
At the end of the lecture, the head of the department, doctor of law, professor Tlepina Sh.V. expressed her gratitude to the lecturer for a very interesting lecture, and also wished him further professional success.
