XIV Republican Subject Olympiad among students of higher educational institutions in the direction of "Law"

On April 22, 2022, on the basis of the Faculty of Law of the Eurasian National University named after L.N. Gumilyova, a Subject Olympiad was held among students of higher educational institutions with a degree in Law and Time Offline.

The possibility of holding an Olympiad in this area appeared thanks to a 3rd year student Rustemova Marzhan, who in 2021 took first place at the XIII Republican Subject Olympiad, which was held at Al-Farabi KazNU. According to the rules, the university, whose students occupy the first places, is endowed with the right to hold the XIV Republican Subject Olympiad in 2022.

Applications for participation were submitted by 10 higher educational institutions of Kazakhstan, which train personnel in legal specialties, 37 participants from different cities passed registration.

Teams of leading universities of the country became participants of the XIV Republican Student Subject Olympiad:

5. Kazakh Academy of Labor and Social Relations

9. Karaganda University named after E. Buketov

 

The main goal of the Olympics is to reveal the creative abilities of student youth, involve them in solving urgent problems in the legal sphere, the scientific orientation of ideas and proposals, as well as support for the formation of the intellectual potential of youth.

This goal formed tasks that were expressed in assessing the knowledge of participants, as well as identifying analytical skills in solving the proposed situational problems.

According to the Regulations on the Olympiad, a competent jury of 7 members was formed to evaluate all stages of the competition.

At the beginning of the Olympics the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Doctor of Law, Professor B.M. Smatlaev made a welcoming speech wishing good luck to the participants.

Further, the head of the department of criminal law disciplines, Ph.D., Professor B.R. Sembekova, noting the importance of such competitions to stimulate scientific research, as well as to form the competence of future lawyers.

 

Subject Olympiad includes the passage of two stages.

The first phase assesses the knowledge and skills of civil law and civil process.

At the second stage, knowledge assessment on criminal law and the criminal process is carried out. Also, at each stage of the Olympiad, it is proposed to solve situational problems in a test format for individual branches of law.

The number of situation tasks in each unit is 20. The solution of one unit is provided for 100 minutes.

A situation task is a situation (case). For each task, 3 (three) questions of various complexity were proposed: the first degree - the basic level of complexity, the second degree - the average complexity, the third - increased complexity. Four (4) answer options were offered for each question. The correct answer to the question of the first degree of complexity is estimated at 2 points, to the question of the second degree of complexity - 4 points, to the question of the third degree of complexity - 6 points. The student needs to choose only one answer option. In the event that the student noted two or more answer options, the decision was automatically considered incorrect. 

 According to the results of two stages of the Olympiad, the following results were determined:

First place:

Third place:

Rakhmanov Sultan-Muhamed Alimzhanovich, Caspian University (Caspian University;

Gabbasov Ialiakhmed Sardarbekovich, Eurasian Humanitarian Institute;

Kravchenko Alexander Yuryevich, Kokshetau University named after Abai Myrzakhmetov.
