VIII International Film Festival of student films in Criminology "Golden Trail" named after Professor V. K. Gavlo

April 22-23, 2021 at the Novosibirsk Law Institute (branch) Tomsk State University hosted the VIII International Film Festival of student films in Criminology "Golden Trail" named after Professor V. K. Gavlo.
The main organizer of the film festival, according to tradition, was the Novosibirsk Law Institute (branch) Tomsk State University with the support of the Public Council under the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Novosibirsk Region, as well as the Council of Young Lawyers under the Novosibirsk Regional branch of the Association of Lawyers of Russia.
Despite the fact that due to preventive restrictive measures, the eighth festival in 2021 was held in the format of remote participation, this did not affect the quality of the submitted works in any way. It is no exaggeration to say that over the years of its existence, the festival has become not only an effective tool for bringing legal science and practice closer together, but also an important innovative means of teaching students, because the films made for it are later used in the educational process.
To participate in the "Golden Trail-2021", 66 films were selected, sent not only by Russian universities, but also by educational institutions of foreign countries. The jury members noted the high professional level of the works presented this year. Their authors used various artistic techniques, some films were not inferior in quality to professional documentary productions.
The jury of the "Golden Trail-2021" traditionally included prominent scientists and practitioners in the field of criminal law, process and criminology:
•    Sergey Ivanovich Davydov, doctor of law, professor, head of the department of criminal procedure and criminalistics of AltSU;
•    Gennady Nikolaevich Doronin, candidate of law, associate professor, head of the department of criminal law of the NUI (f)TSU;
•    Tatyana Leonidovna Zhuravleva, head of the public project «Video Archive of the Novosibirsk region», chief director of the documentary film studio «Chronograph», volunteer of the charity foundation «Constellation of Hearts»;
•    Nina Antonovna Platonenko, head of the forensic center of the main directorate of the Ministry of internal affairs of the Russian Federation for the Novosibirsk region, State councilor of the Russian Federation, 2nd class, Police Colonel;
•    Sergey Vladimirovich Shchekotin, Head of the Information and Public Relations Department (Press Service) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Novosibirsk Region, Colonel of the Internal Service;
•    Vladimir Anatolevich Skripko, Deputy Head of the Forensic Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Novosibirsk region, Police Colonel
•    Sergey Aleksandrovich Trachimenok, doctor of law, professor of the Institute of national Security of the Republic of Belarus, writer (member of the Union of Writers of Russia and Belarus, member of the Presidium of the Union of Writers of the Union State), screenwriter, graduate of the NUI (f)TSU.
The chairman of the jury was Doctor of Law, Professor Yuri Petrovich Garmaev.
The main criteria for evaluating the films were their originality, talent and skill of the cast, as well as the pronounced educational and forensic nature of the works, which is the main idea of the festival.
The award of the "Golden Trace" in 2021 in the category "Investigative Situations" for the honorary 3rd place was received by the L. N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University for the educational film "Investigation of Traces in the detection and investigation of crimes".
The creation of the documentary was the result of painstaking work and collective creative efforts of the teaching staff of the department of criminal law disciplines of the faculty of law of the L. N. Gumilyov ENU in the person of the head of the department Sembekova B.R., head of the forensic laboratory Saliyenko V.V., senior teacher Drokin Yu.N. with active participation in the production of the documentary plot and filming of the 4th year students of the faculty of law Zharylgapuly A. and Sagynbayev A.
The leading social partners of the faculty of law – the Ministry of internal affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the department of Internal affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the department of Internal affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan-actively assisted the creators of the film in the work on the educational documentary within the framework of professional cooperation and joint creative initiatives.Nur-Sultan and its structural divisions, the Institute of Forensic Examinations in Nur-Sultan.
