4-year student of International law, took part in the International Summer Historical School

In the period from 14 - 23 September Almagambetova Diana, 4-year student of International law, took part in the International Summer Historical School - 2021, which was held in Vyborg (Russian Federation). This School was organized on behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin by the Russian Historical Society, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, the State Academic University of Humanities with the support of the Presidential Grants Fund, the History of the Fatherland Foundation and the Government of the Leningrad Region.

This year, the School brought together about 200 students from more than 50 countries of the world. For each of the student, the participation in the School was a unique opportunity to immerse ourselves in the history and culture of Russia. The School program was full of various lectures and master classes from outstanding Russian specialists, as well as excursions around Vyborg and St. Petersburg.

The work of the School was divided into the following thematic tracks:

* The Imperial heritage of Russia in a comparative perspective (to the 300th anniversary of the proclamation of Russia as an empire);

* Memory of the Great Patriotic War and the crimes of the Nazi invaders on the territory of the Soviet Union (to the 80th anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War);

* Russia in the history of great scientific and technological breakthroughs (on the 60th anniversary of the first human flight into Space);

* Art and culture of Russia in the period of Modern and Modern times.

Based on the chosen track participants were divided into 5 teams and 10 people in each of them, beside in addition to educational and cultural activities, each team was also engaged in project activities. For 4 days, Diana and 9 other students from Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Peru, Armenia and the DPR developed a project within the second track aimed at popularizing the memory of the Great Patriotic War among young people by the example of the fate of children who faced the hardships of war.

As Almagambetova D. reveals, she is very grateful to the School for the invaluable experience, knowledge gained, new friends from different parts of the world and for the incredible opportunity to embark on their project. Because her team "Inter" and the team from the track "Empire "became the winners of the project competition within the framework of the International Historical School – 2021 and fellows of the History of the Fatherland Foundation, a special group of experts and consultants will work with them during the year, which will accompany Diana and her fellows and help them implement the developed project. The material embodiment of their project will be a mobile exhibition of live photos.
