On October 21, 2022, a lecture by the Dean of the Law School of the University of Pennsylvania (Pennsylvania, USA), Professor S. Barnes for students and faculty of the Department of International Law on the topic "Separation of Powers in accordance with the US Constitution" was held in the Meeting Room of the Academic Council of the L.N. Gumilev ENU (auditorium 206). The meeting was attended by Vice-Rector for Science, Commercialization and Internationalization Zh.D. Kurmangalieva; Professor of the Department of International Law, Doctor of Law, Professor M.A. Sarsembayev; Dean of the Faculty of Law, Doctor of Law, Professor B.M. Smatlaev; Head of the Department of International Law, Doctor of Law, Professor Sh.V. Tlepina.

Professor S. Barnes told the audience about the peculiarities of the American Constitution and the system of separation of powers in the United States. In particular, he noted that the main law of the United States is the oldest constitution in the world, and that it ensures the separation of powers in the country between three main institutions: the legislative branch – the US Congress, the executive branch – the President, and the Judicial branch – the US Supreme Court.

Professor S. Barnes introduced those present to the activities of his educational institution – the University of Pennsylvania. This university is one of the most successful educational institutions in the training of legal specialists in the USA. Students from different countries and cultures study at the university. S. Barnes, noting this and other advantages of the university, encouraged everyone to visit his university and country.
