Solntsev A.M. took part in the X International Scientific and Practical School on International Law

On April 3, 2023, a guest lecture was held at the Department of International Law by a Candidate of Legal Sciences, Associate Professor, Deputy Head of the Department of International Law of the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia (Moscow, Russia), a member of the Russian Association of International Law, a member of the European Association of International Law, a member of the European Center for Space law, a member of the World Commission on Environmental Law of the International Union for Conservation of Nature, a member of the European Forum of Environmental Law, Alexander Mikhailovich Solntsev in the framework of the X International Scientific and Practical School on International Law "Actual Problems of Theory, Practice and Teaching of International Law". 

The guest lecture on the topic: "The role of treaty bodies in resolving international environmental disputes" was held online on the Microsoft Teams platform.

As part of the guest lecture Solntsev A.M. focused the listeners' attention on the traditional ways of resolving international disputes in the International Court of Justice and showed negative examples of their resolution without special knowledge. In more detail, alternative means of resolving international disputes in the form of compliance committees created under such international environmental agreements as the Aarhus Convention on Access to Information, Public Participation in Decision-Making and Access to Justice in Environmental Matters, the Minamata Convention on Mercury, Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer, as well as the effectiveness of their application.

The guest lecture aroused the interest of the audience, questions were asked. At the end of the lecture Tlepin Sh.V. expressed her gratitude to the lecturer for a very interesting and informative lecture, and also wished her good health and professional success.
