Professor of the Department of International Law was awarded the status of "Honorary Professor of L.N. Gumielva ENU"

At the meeting of the leading scientists of the Faculty of Law with the Chairman of the Board-Rector of the University, E.B. Sydykov congratulated Professor of the Department of International Law, Doctor of Law, Honored Teacher Sarsembayev Marat Aldangorovich in connection with the assignment of the status of "Honorary Professor of the L.N. Gumilev ENU". He was also awarded a diploma. 

In the history of Kazakhstan, M. A. Sarsembayev is the first Doctor of Law, professor in the field of international law. Under his direct scientific supervision, more than 30 people became candidates of law in international law, PhD – 2 people and Masters of international law – more than 30 people.

M. A. Sarsembayev has over 650 scientific papers in Kazakh, Russian, English, Dari, Hebrew, Korean, German, Polish, Romanian, Turkish, French, Japanese on Kazakh, foreign and international law, on domestic and foreign policy issues, published in Kazakhstan, the Russian Federation, Austria, Afghanistan, Great Britain, Germany, Israel, Poland, Romania, USA, Turkey, Japan.

M.A. Sarsembayev took part in more than three hundred meetings of dissertation councils for the defense of candidate and doctoral dissertations at the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of International Relations of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, at the Institute of Economics of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, at the D.A. University. Kunaev and the Institute of International Law "Daneker", then Karaganda State University, at the Tashkent State Law Institute of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan, at the Faculty of Law of the Peoples' Friendship University (Russian Federation); at the Faculty of Law of the Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov, at the Faculty of Law of the University of Paris-12 as a member of dissertation councils, supervisor, member of expert commissions, opponent, unofficial opponent in various scientific branches of Kazakh jurisprudence, international law, world economy, international relations.

Participated in the formulation, editing, initiation, examination, improvement of more than 200 bills, draft codes, including Customs, Tax, Labor codes through the Parliament, the Central Election Commission, the Constitutional Council and a number of ministries and departments of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and the current laws of the Republic of Kazakhstan on foreign policy and internal problems of the country. Participated in the formulation, discussion, debating of more than 300 texts of international treaties in the format of bilateral agreements of Kazakhstan with foreign states, regional agreements within the framework of the EurAsEC, repeated improvement of the norms of multilateral conventions on international humanitarian law in Geneva (Switzerland).

Participated in about 400 international organizational and practical events, including 85 international, interstate negotiations, 249 international meetings and conversations. For professional purposes, mainly within the framework of the theory and practice of international law, as well as Kazakh and international electoral law and the process, I have been in 33 foreign countries, in a number of them – several times. He made a significant contribution to the formation and development of private higher education in Kazakhstan as President of the Association of Educational Institutions of the Republic from 1996 to 2001, including legal and international law.

He is a laureate of a number of international scientific awards and the winner of a number of international scientific competitions, including the scientific competition of the prestigious U.S. government program named after W. Fulbright, in connection with which he was in the United States in 1997 for 10 months, developing the scientific problem of property in Kazakh, American and international law. Laureate of the international prize of the Soros-Kazakhstan Foundation: the prize was awarded to him for the university textbook "International Law", recognized as the best of 120 texts of textbooks sent to the republican contest of 1995, held with the assistance of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

He was a member of the Council on Legal Policy under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a member of the Executive Committee of the Russian Association of International Law.

He is fluent in Kazakh, Russian and English.

A significant part of M.A. Sarsembayev's conscious life was devoted to scientific and pedagogical activities: he worked at the al-Farabi Kazakh National University from 1973 to 2000 (he was dean of the Faculty of Law, head of the Department of International Law), was rector of the Institute of International Law and International Business "Daneker". He was the director of the Law Institute of the L.N. Gumilev Eurasian National University; being a professor at the same university, he teaches courses: "Problems of Public International Law", "European Law", "Investment Law", as well as a full course of public international law in English for doctoral students of international law specialty. As a professor at the Kazakh Humanitarian Law University, he taught courses on international law and on legal problems of international migration.
