Staff and students of the Department of International Law attended a master class held by the AIFC Court and the International Arbitration Center.

July 4, faculty of the Department of International Law, Karazhan B.S., Esirkepova M.M., doctoral student Kostyanaya Yu.S. and students of the specialty International Law 2 and 3 courses attended a master class held by the AIFC Court and the International Arbitration Center.

The master class was held by the Justice Tom Montagu-Smith QC (Queen’s Counsel - the royal lawyer) on the topic “The AIFC Court Rules”.

The AIFC Court provides a common law court system based on the norms and principles of English law for the first time in Eurasia.  It operates to the highest international standards to resolve civil and commercial disputes in the AIFC. It has exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising out of the activities and operations of the AIFC and jurisdiction in the case of other disputes in which all parties agree to give the AIFC Court jurisdiction.

The organizers also conducted an introductory tour for the participants, where it was noted that the the AIFC Court Chambers set up at the EXPO-2017 Astana premises, which include conference, meeting and hearing rooms equipped with state-of-the-art IT systems, will be permanently operational.

The AIFC Court is working with leading international education institutions to provide world class professional legal and judicial education that will contribute to the professional development of future lawyers and judges in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
