Master student of the Department of international law held an open class

Within the framework of pedagogical practice, on November 19, 2019, an open seminar was held for a 2nd year undergraduate specialty “International Law” of the Law Faculty, Turgunbai Ayana Almaskyzy. Topic: "Environmental Protection during Armed Conflict."

The open lesson was attended by teachers, undergraduates and students of the department of international law.The objectives of the seminar were:

⎯ familiarization with international legal standards of environmental protection: Convention, Declaration, Protocol;

⎯ to consider specific examples (cases) of violations of environmental standards during armed conflicts by participating States.

At the beginning of the seminar, students repeated the previous topics of the seminar on international environmental law. Also, they have done work on international environmental law, case studies: the conflict in Vietnam (1964-1973); Cambodia-Thailand, Kuwait-Iraq, NATO-Yugoslavia, etc.

The seminar session was conducted in two ways:

1. First, we examined the concept, international legal norms, and also asked questions to students of international environmental law.

2. Then the students were given assignments (cases), by dividing the students into two groups. On assignment, students had to substantiate their arguments and solve cases.

Thus, Turgunbai Ayana conducted an interactive teaching methodology in order to ensure the comprehensibility of the taught topic and increase the students' interest. At the same time, an open lesson was organized in the form of a question-answer with each student separately and by solving cases between previously divided groups of students.

Based on the results of the open seminar, conclusions were drawn on the topic and, given the above course of the lesson, we can say that the goal of the open seminar was achieved.
