The Department of International Law with the International lawyer's club held a Model UN as part of the celebration of the United Nations Day

On October 24, the international community celebrates United Nations Day (established by General Assembly resolution 168 (II) of October 31, 197). Department of International Law, ENU L.N. Gumilyov always holds scientific events dedicated to the anniversary of the creation of a unique universal international organization. In 2021, the Department of International Law also dedicated these scientific events to the 30th anniversary of the closure of the Semipalatinsk nuclear test site and holds Disarmament Week (established by resolution S-10/2 of the 10th special session of the UN General Assembly in 1978).

In 2021, the Department of International Law, together with the Scientific-Research Club, held a number of events: 

- from 12 to 24 October 2021 - a competition for the best essay dedicated to the United Nations Day and the 30th anniversary of the closure of the Semipalatinsk nuclear test site, on the topic: "A world without nuclear weapons" in three languages;

- October 28, 2021 - Model of the UN Security Council on the topic: "The situation in Afghanistan and its impact on the security of Central Asia" in English;

- October 28, 2021 - a round table dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the closure of the Semipalatinsk nuclear test site, the 30th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the UN Day, the 25th anniversary of the ENU. L.N. Gumilyov on the topic: "The contribution of the Republic of Kazakhstan to international security and nuclear disarmament" in Russian.

The UN Security Council model was conducted in English by the members of the International lawyer’s club. It was attended by undergraduate students of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th year of the specialty "International Law", among whom students who came by academic mobility from the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan (Dushanbe, Tajikistan) also took an active part. 

Members of the UN Security Council Model shared as follows: 1 Chairman, 2 Vice-Chairmen, and 15 Security Council members (5 permanent and 10 non-permanent members). Students were delegates from the following countries: Russian Federation, United States of America, Great Britain, France, People's Republic of China, Republic of Kazakhstan, Republic of Tajikistan, Republic of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyz Republic, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, India, Federal Republic of Germany, Qatar, Turkey.

All students very actively participated in the discussion of various issues raised by delegates, voting for or against decision-making, as well as for the adoption of a resolution of the UN Security Council meeting. All participants were awarded certificates of participation in the UN Security Council Model. This was the first experience of holding such events in English. In 2015, the club members also conducted the Model UN General Assembly dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the UN in Russian.
