IX International Scientific and Practical School has opened I Eurasian Congress on International Law

On October 31, 2022, the Department of International Law opened the I Eurasian Congress on International Law on the topic: "Modern challenges of international law" within the walls of L.N. Gumilyov ENU with the beginning of the work of the IX International Scientific and Practical School on the topic: "Actual problems of the theory, practice and teaching of international law". 

The IX International Academic and Practical School on International Law will be held from October 31 to November 10, 2022. 

The purpose of the ISPS is to form professional competencies (knowledge, skills, and abilities) of the future international lawyer, discuss topical issues and various issues in the field of the theory of international law; strengthen the practice-oriented approach to training specialists in the field of international law; exchange of experience in teaching disciplines of international law. on the Microsoft Teams site.

Lecturers at the school are Kazakh and foreign professors, scientists, practitioners in the field of international law. Foreign lecturers are representatives of such universities as the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia (Moscow, Russia), the National Research University Higher School of Economics (Moscow, Russia), the European Humanities University (Vilnius, Lithuania), the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan (Dushanbe, Tajikistan), Moscow State Law University named after O.E. Kutafin (MSAL) (Moscow, Russia), Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University (KFU, Kazan, Russia), Southern Federal University (Rostov-on-Don, Russia), Ural State Law University (Yekaterinburg, Russia).

The welcoming speech of all the students of the ISPS was made by the head of the Department of International Law of the Faculty of Law of L.N. Gumilyov ENU (Kazakhstan), Doctor of Law, Professor Tlepina Sholpan Valerievna. In her speech, she spoke about the history of the SPS, the evolution of its name, lecturers of the SPS.

Also, the welcoming speeches were made by the Department of International Law of the Rudn University Institute of Law (Russia), Doctor of Law, Professor, Honorary Professor of the ENU. L.N. Gumileva, Abashidze Aslan Khuseynovich, who proposed to hold the ISPS not at the level of the Department of International Law, but at the level of the university, and became the ISPS ENU named after L.N. Gumilyov. 

 Alisher Abdukhkhalikovich, Candidate of Legal Sciences, Associate Professor of Foreign Law of the Faculty of Diplomacy and Politics of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan (Dushanbe, Tajikistan), Candidate of Legal Sciences, Associate Professor of Saidmukhtorov Alisher Abdukhalikovich wished success in holding the School and the Congress.

The first day of the congress was opened with a lecture by Sholpan Valerievna Tlepina on the topic: "The origins of the formation of international law in ancient India".  The lecturer spoke about the development of international relations in ancient India, ambassadorial law, the origins of treaty law, guarantees of the fulfillment of treaties, issues of war, the status of prisoners. The main written sources of laws and epics the laws of Manu, Arthashastra, in which the above issues were fixed, were studied.

The lecture exited the interest of the audience. Students at the school had a unique opportunity to raise their knowledge of the history of international law in ancient India, some provisions of which are reflected in international documents and are relevant today. This lecture was useful not only for teachers, but also for students.
