Foreign students shared their impressions after working together with an associate professor of the Department of International Law

Reflections of Ms Sofia Walsh, a bachelor student of Arizona State University, expressed in the article about her work with a Fulbright visiting scholar Dr Beibit Shangirbayeva at the Melikian Center of Arizona State University (USA) can impress anyone. Sofia was an assistant to Dr Beibit Shangirbayeva and helped her to do research on global human rights values and nomadic cultural traditions of the Kazakhs. For Sofia it was a first and very successful experience, and enabled her to gain new knowledge and ideas. As Sofia writes, it “was a fantastic opportunity to develop my knowledge of the research process, it also allowed me to explore a diverse array of topics and interesting content areas, which included Kazakh culture; human rights; the Eurasian Economic Union; free expression theory; policy transfer and diffusion; and even the philosophy of Gilles Deleuze and his theories on nomadism….. Ultimately, I am incredibly grateful to the Melikian Center and Dr. Shangirbayeva for this fellowship experience. Not only has it improved my research skills, it has also given me great insight into avenues of research I would love to pursue on my own. I have no doubt that I will continue to look back on my fellowship as one of the most beneficial experiences of my college career.”
