From April 3 to April 10, 2023, the Department of International Law holds the anniversary X International Scientific and Practical School on International Law "Actual Problems of Theory, Practice and Teaching of International Law", dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the specialized Department of International Law of ENU. In 2023, the theme of the X International Scientific and Practical School is "Alternative ways to resolve international disputes".
On April 10, 2023, docent, candidate of legal sciences of the Department of International Law of the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia (Russian Federation, Moscow) Dementyev Andrey Andreevich spoke on the topic: "Reforming the ISDS system: stages passed and development paths".
In his speech, lecturer Dementiev A.A. outlined the role of UNCITRAL in improving the system for settling disputes between investors and states. Lecturer Dementiev A.A. elaborated on the reform of the ISDS system, problems related to the consistency, coherence, predictability and correctness of arbitral awards, problems related to arbitrators and decision makers, related to the cost and duration of proceedings.
After the speech, the lecturer answered all the questions of students and listeners. At the end of the lecture Akshalova R.D. expressed her gratitude to the lecturer for a very interesting and informative lecture, and also wished him good health and professional success.
