Kazakhstan is a multinational country in which more than 150 nations and nationalities live. To rally these peoples, the government of the country holds various events, one of which is the celebration of the Unity Day of the People of Kazakhstan.

The official day of the holiday is May 1st. In Soviet times, the Day of Solidarity of all working people was celebrated on this day. Today it is a celebration of the unity of all peoples living in Kazakhstan. This bright spring festival is held in every city of Kazakhstan, where parades and processions take place along the main streets of cities, as well as numerous entertainment events.

Defender of the Fatherland Day in Kazakhstan is a public holiday and a day off. It is celebrated annually on May 7th. This date was chosen due to the fact that on this day in 1992, the President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, signed a decree on the creation of national armed forces.

In 2012, the Head of State signed the Law “On Amendments to the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan“ On Holidays in the Republic of Kazakhstan ”, according to which May 7 - Defender of the Fatherland Day - became a public holiday.

Victory Day of the Soviet Union over Nazi Germany in the Great Patriotic War was and remains one of the most revered holidays in Kazakhstan and in the CIS countries. According to the glorious tradition of recent years, St. George ribbons are distributed everywhere by volunteers, which not only veterans, but also young people are tied and worn as a symbol of the connection between generations and the memory of the Great Victory.

Also on this day, flower and wreath laying ceremonies are held everywhere at the monuments to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War, various events are held to honor war veterans and rear front workers, festive concerts, courage lessons in schools, reconstruction of battles and much more are organized.

The unity of the people and the memory of the past exploits of our ancestors - the most important wealth.
