INTERNATIONAL ROUND TABLE ON THE TOPIC: “TERRORISM IS A POTENTIAL THREAT TO NATIONAL SECURITY”

         As part of the scientific project “Terrorism as a Threat to National Security: Improving Criminal Policy in the System of Counteraction of the Republic of Kazakhstan” on May 16, 2019 at the Department of Criminal Law Disciplines of the Eurasian National University. L.N. Gumilyov held an international round table on the topic "Terrorism - a potential threat to national security."

          Scientists from Tuva State University (Kyzyl, Russia) took part in the round table: the head of the department was Candidate of Laws, Associate Professor Mongush Alla Lospanovna, the Deputy Dean for Research, Candidate of Laws, Associate Professor Mongush Aziyana Saryg-oolovna and senior lecturer Dongak Olga Shurtuevna and undergraduate of the 1st year full-time law school at the TuvSU I.A. Kashnikov.

         The section was moderated by the Head of the Department of Criminal Law Disciplines, Candidate of Laws, Professor Sembekova B.R., who delivered a welcoming speech to the participants of the section and a report on the topic: “Terrorism: Modern State and International Cooperation”. Faculty members of the Department of Criminal Law Disciplines at ENU named after. L.N. Gumilyov:

         Professor of the Department of UPD, Doctor of Laws, Professor Smatlaev Baurzhan Momytbekovich, made a presentation on the topic: “Theory and Practice of Combating Terrorism”, where he highlighted the issues of countering terrorism using examples of the practice of fighting law enforcement bodies of Kazakhstan;

         Candidate of Laws, Associate Professor of the Department of UPD Baimoldina S.M. with a report on the topic: “Criminal liability for crimes of a terrorist nature in the Republic of Kazakhstan”;

         Candidate of Laws, Associate Professor of the Department of UPD Mergembaeva N. B. with a report on the topic: "Some problems of the methods of investigation of a terrorist act";

         Candidate of Laws, Associate Professor of the Department of UPD Muratkhanova MB with a report on the topic: "Ways to counter the spread of extremist ideology";

         Candidate of Law, Associate Professor of the Department of UPD Ashimova E.A. with a report on the topic;

The master is right, the teacher of UPD department Suleymenova M.K. made the report on a subject: "Organization of terrorist activity: criminal and criminological aspects".

        Of the foreign guests acted head. Department, Ph.D., A.L. Mongush with the topic "Criminological analysis of terrorism and extremism", which is very interested in its performance. Teachers and undergraduates of Tuva State University also took an active part: reports were presented by A.S. Mongush with the topic “Criminal Characterization of Terrorism: Comparative Analysis of the Legislation of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Kazakhstan”; O. Sh. Dongak “Criminal Executive Policy of the Russian Federation and Kazakhstan in Countering Terrorism” and undergraduate of the 1st year full-time I.A. Kashnikov with the theme “Countering Terrorism and Extremism by Legal Methods”.

Upon termination of a round table the results were summed up and recommendations for improvement of criminal policy on fight against terrorism in the Republic of Kazakhstan are offered.
