Master student of the Department of international law held an open class

Within the framework of pedagogical practice, on November 7, 2019, an open seminar was held by a 2nd-year master's student of the specialty "International law" of the faculty of law, Duissenova Aizhan.

Topic: "International law of the sea".

The open lesson was attended by teachers, undergraduates and students of the Department of international law.

The objectives of the seminar were:

 familiarization with the norms of international Maritime law;

 study of existing international treaties and conventions, their use in law enforcement practice;

 consider specific examples of violations of international law of the sea by States parties.

At the beginning of the seminar, the students repeated the previous topics of the seminar on international Maritime, space and air law. They also carried out a brief review of the concept of international Maritime, space, air law, stages of development, sources and consideration of the role of the UN.

The seminar session was conducted in two ways:

1. In the homework, students had to consider cases within the international court of justice for the international law of the sea. At the beginning, students had to briefly familiarize themselves with the content of these cases, and the definition of violated principles and norms of international law.

2. The students were then given assignments on these cases, by dividing the students into groups. On assignment, the students had to justify their arguments as ad hoc judges.

Thus, Aizhan Duissenova conducted an interactive teaching methodology in order to ensure the digestibility of the taught topic and increase the interest of students. At the same time, the open lesson was organized in the form of a question-and-answer with each student separately and a debate between pre-divided groups of students.

According to the results of the open seminar, conclusions were drawn on the topic and, given the above course of the lesson, we can say that the purpose of the open seminar was achieved.
